Franklin Transit Announces Free Teens Try Transit Day on July 22

Franklin Transit is inviting local tweens and teens to explore Franklin in a new way on Teens Try Transit Day, a free fun bus adventure taking place Wednesday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Designed for youth ages 12 to 18, the event transforms Franklin Transit into a passport for exploration, giving participants free rides on Blue Route while visiting some of Franklin’s favorite destinations. Free activities, treats or experiences will be provided by local community partners.

The day begins at the Franklin Transit Center in Downtown, where participants will receive a complimentary wallet filled with coupons and special offers. Tweens and Teens are encouraged to walk, bike, and carpool to the Franklin Transit Center.

“This event is about more than providing transportation,” said Debbie Henry, President and CEO of The TMA Group. This is a great opportunity for teens to learn how to use public transit while enjoying a day of fun, food, and local destinations—all at no cost. Parents are welcome too! We hope Teens Try Transit Day creates lasting memories while building confidence and independence.”

Participants can create their own itinerary throughout the day by hopping on and off the Blue Route bus to visit destinations including:

  • Downtown Transit Center – Receive a free wallet with coupons for your day and a free frisbee.
  • Downtown Franklin – Enjoy a complimentary ice cream treat from Kilwins Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop.
  • The Factory at Franklin – Create a keepsake zine with artist and educator Anna Skates aboard the Department of Curious Things Field Bus, ride the Carousel of Dreams and enjoy a complimentary Bubble Love boba tea.
  • CoolSprings Galleria – Receive a complimentary Chick-fil-A meal coupon while spending time shopping and visiting with friends.

Blue Route will operate every 30 minutes throughout the event, allowing participants to move freely between destinations at their own pace. Franklin Transit staff and community volunteers will be available throughout the day to answer questions and assist riders.

Franklin Transit Free Teens Try Transit Day is made possible through partnerships with Bubble Love, Chick-Fil-A, Kilwins Ice Cream & Chocolate Factory, The Factory at Franklin, Ken Means Carousel of Dreams, Anna Skates’ Department of Curious Things, and the City of Franklin.

The event is free, but participants should check in at the Franklin Transit Center, located at 708 Columbia Avenue, beginning at 10 a.m. to receive their event bag and ride materials. Activities and giveaways are available while supplies last.
